New Yorkers and visitors will bid one final goodbye to any unpleasant, frustrating, and forgettable memories from 2024 at the 18th annual Good Riddance Day on Saturday, December 28, at 12:00p.m., on the Broadway Plaza between 43rd and 44th Streets. This year’s Good Riddance Day event offers participants the opportunity to wipe away their unhappy memories from the past year, allowing all to enter 2025 feeling lighter and with a clean slate.
Jonathan Bennett, host of the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration, will lead the event which will feature two large chalkboards that will literally and symbolically erase 2024. Miniature chalkboards will be made available to the public to write down and erase the bad memories they want to let go of from the past year. The public was also invited to register in advance here.
This year, people can also submit their Good Riddance Day messages online at the One Times Square website. These online submissions will be displayed on a 148” foot high digital billboard in Times Square as part of the event, showcasing what people are saying goodbye to from this year.
The Times Square Alliance, One Times Square, and Countdown Entertainment are the co-organizers of Times Square New Year’s Eve.
