Performing September 10: Inti and the Moon
Inti and the Moon was formed in 2010, and includes Ecuadorean Geovanni Suquillo on lead guitar, charango, keyboards, and percussion; New Yorker Concetta Allegra on violin/viola, and vocals; and Albert Siri of the Dominican Republic on rhythm guitar. The band is influenced mainly by Latin American and North American folk music, as well as Spanish rumba and flamenco. Its unique blend of languages, rhythms, and melodies represents years of cultural diffusion and change. Inti is the word for sun in Quechwa, an indigenous language spoken in Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. The sun and moon in the band’s name "symbolically contrast cityscapes and nature, as well as ancient and modern cultures."
