MTA MUSIC (Music Under New York) is one of the visual and performing arts programs presented by MTA Arts & Design to enhance the transit system for riders. More than 350 individuals and ensembles present over 12,000 MTA MUSIC performances annually, featuring a wide range of instruments such as the Gambian kora, Korean drum, West Indian steel drums, Andean pipes, Cajun cello, Celtic and Baroque harps, guitars, violins, hammered dulcimers, and musical saws, and encompassing classical strings, jazz ensembles, world music bands, folk, a cappella groups, singer-songwriters, and more.
Performing on July 9: Joya Bravo
Eclectic powerhouse performer Joya Bravo combines her Jamaican roots, Atlanta upbringing and her native New York style in all of her unique performances.
This vocalist, rapper, actress and classically trained violinist has traveled to, and done music work in many countries and states including Brazil, Germany, the UK, Japan, Atlanta, Los Angeles and of course New York City. Her violin performances consist of timeless classics, and today's hit music, creating spaces where people of all walks of life can, for a moment, forget the hustle and bustle of New York living, to embrace the connection with people they otherwise would not have.
Your wishes will be added to the confetti that flutters down in the heart of Times Square on New Year's Eve! Each year, people from around the planet include their wishes for the new year on pieces of official Times Square New Year's Eve confetti, either digitally or in person.
