How are organizations working at the intersection of gender and musical theatre navigating a rapidly changing landscape? Join Maestra Music at the Museum of Broadway for a timely and necessary conversation with national leaders advancing gender equity in musical theatre. In light of emerging political challenges, funding pressures, and cultural backlash, these organizations are rethinking how advocacy, artistry, and accountability can work in concert.
This panel will explore strategies for supporting women and nonbinary creatives, the evolving role of federal and philanthropic resources, and the legal frameworks shaping our field. Moderated by Maestra’s Executive Director Lee Bynum, the discussion will feature thought leaders Tomoko Akaboshi (Founder and Director of Tutti), Jess Ducey (Ring of Keys), Brisa Areli Muñoz (Musical Theatre Factory), and Martha Wade Steketee (Editor and Writer of Women Count).
