Brooke Fischer grew up in Boulder, Colorado, at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and studied at the Colorado Institute of Art, Denver. She moved to Los Angeles in her twenties and spent 12 years working in the film industry as a graphic designer. She currently works as a freelance graphic designer and fine art painter. She lives in Santa Monica, California.Brooke’s paintings come from her love of all things design and her respect and awe for Mother Nature’s finest details. Her work often celebrates a singular object in nature—a bird, a nest, a dragonfly, a flower—it is very much a “stop and smell the roses” artistic expression. Her L.A.-based graphic design company is called Notice Designs for the same reason. The artistic focus is on freezing an everyday object in time and examining all of the great detail in an almost scientific way. Brooke believes that all artists ultimately take a back seat to nature. We interpret, but we can never really duplicate its beauty.Brooke has also been a voice for women's rights and equality. The Amplifier Foundation selected her design, Let Equality Bloom, as a part of their traveling exhibition, Hear our Voice. Let Equality Bloom is also being paired with curriculum to provide tools for teachers to bring dialogue about social justice into the classroom. Brooke feels passionately about women’s rights, equality, and the environment, among other issues. It is because of this passion that she strives to create artwork to inspire movement and get people to use their voices, to take part in the conversation, and to take action in our current political climate. Change is possible if we are paying attention and willing to be proactive."I never imagined Let Equality Bloom would grace the iconic Times Square landscape. My mind is blown. I am so grateful to Amplifier for all they do for their artists and for bringing my message of Equality to the world."
